<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably prevent light leakage in a pixel without unnecessarily reducing display luminance. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display panel is provided with: a first electrode substrate including a plurality of pixel electrodes, a light shielding layer and a color filter; a second electrode substrate; and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and the second electrode substrates. The light shielding layer includes a light shielding stripe 2 disposed along a pixel boundary BD and partially overlapping a pair of adjacent pixel electrodes on both sides of the pixel boundary BD, and a first end of the light shielding stripe 2 is disposed on one side where an alignment azimuth T of liquid crystal molecules forms >90° angle to a vector extending from the pixel boundary BD toward the first end in a pixel array direction and a second end of the light shielding stripe 2 is disposed on the other side where the the alignment azimuth T of the liquid crystal molecules forms <90° angle to a vector extending from the pixel boundary BD toward the second end in the pixel array direction.
