<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably prevent light leakage in a pixel without unnecessarily reducing display luminance. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display panel is provided with: a first electrode substrate including a plurality of pixel electrodes, a light shielding layer and a color filter; a second electrode substrate; and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and the second electrode substrates. The light shielding layer includes a light shielding stripe 2 disposed along a pixel boundary BD and partially overlapping a pair of adjacent pixel electrodes on both sides of the pixel boundary BD, and a first end of the light shielding stripe 2 is disposed on one side where an alignment azimuth T of liquid crystal molecules forms >90° angle to a vector extending from the pixel boundary BD toward the first end in a pixel array direction and a second end of the light shielding stripe 2 is disposed on the other side where the the alignment azimuth T of the liquid crystal molecules forms <90° angle to a vector extending from the pixel boundary BD toward the second end in the pixel array direction. The average distance Wi between the first end and the pixel boundary BD is set to be shorter than the average distance Wo between the second end and the pixel boundary BD. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
