<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalytic optical body capable of preventing a fog resistance from being lowered caused by soiling and decomposing the soiling by a self-cleaning function finally. <P>SOLUTION: An antireflection film having photocatalytic activity is formed directly or with another coating layer interposed on the surface of a substrate, and a surfactant layer comprising a water-soluble surfactant is formed on the surface of the antireflection film. A metal compound layer is laid as the uppermost layer of the antireflection film, and a metal oxide layer having photocatalytic activity is disposed as a lower layer of the metal compound layer. As for the water-soluble surfactant, a nonionic surfactant having 8 to 20 HLM or an anionic surfactant can be used. Thereby, contaminant is covered with the surfactant layer and the optical body has a function of rapidly eliminating fog. Further, since the contaminant is purified by the effect of the metal oxide layer having photocatalytic activity, the photocatalytic optical body can reliably eliminate fog due to the soiling or the soiling itself. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
