<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly durable polarizing plate without detachment of a polarizer from the protective film, leak of light or decline of polarization degree even under storage at elevated temperature and humidity. <P>SOLUTION: The cellulose acylate and a cellulose acylate film containing a 1,000 or less low molecular weight compound with a substitution rate and a weight relationship between the low molecular weight compound and the cellulose acylate satisfy the below mentioned relational expressions of 0<Ao/Ai<1 (1) and 0≤Ro/Ri≤0.9 (2). Ao represents an average acylating degree of the cellulose acylate within an area of 0.1μm or less depth from the surface, Ai represents an average acylating degree in an area of 2μm or over depth from the surface, Ro represents an amount of the low molecular weight compound within an area of 0.1μm or less depth from the surface and Ri represents an amount of the low molecular weight compound in an area of 2μm or over depth from the surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
