<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel friction material having high friction coefficient characteristics, judder resistance, and thermal resistance for a continuous torque transmission system having a continuous slip torque converter and a shifting clutch system. <P>SOLUTION: This friction material comprises a porous base material, at least one type of resin material, and at least one type of friction adjusting particles of nano particle size. The resin material is substantially uniformly distributed over the entire part of the base material.
