A brake pedal apparatus for protecting a driver is provided to prevent a brake pedal from hitting a leg of the driver by allowing a pedal arm to be rotated to a front side of the vehicle. A brake pedal apparatus for protecting a driver comprises a base bracket(10), a rack assembly(20), a pinion member(40) meshing with the rack assembly, a pair of guide bracket members(50) disposed at two sides of the pinion member, respectively, a pedal arm(60), a pair of cover bracket members(70) attached to a side of the guide bracket member and an operating bolt(80) sequentially passing through the cover bracket member and guide bracket member. The rack assembly is coupled to a cowl bracket(9) while interposing the base bracket therebetween. A hinge bolt(31) passes through the pinion member and the guide bracket members in a width direction of the vehicle. The pedal arm is disposed between the guide bracket members and has a first end, on which a bolt groove is formed, and a second end to which a pedal(62) is coupled. The pedal arm is connected to a front end of a push rod through a coupling pin member(32) and is connected to the base bracket through a return spring(33). The cover bracket members have a first end, on which a pipe member(71) is provided, and a second end, through which the coupling pin member passes. |
