<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase carry of a ball by reducing the degree of spinning of the ball in a full shot with a driver at a low speed of the head. <P>SOLUTION: The solid golf ball includes a core and a cover layer. The core is formed out of a rubber base material containing a polybutadiene rubber synthesized by using a rare-earth catalyst and a rubber composition containing an organosulfur compound, unsaturated carboxylic acid or its metal salt, an inorganic filler and an antioxidant. The degree of deformation and the distribution of hardnesses under the specified load imposed on the core is optimized to the specified range. The cover layer is formed out of a single resin blend composed mainly of (A) a thermoplastic polyurethane and (B) a polyisocyanate compound and the polyisocyanate compound with all of isocyanate groups per molecule left unreacted in present at least partially in the resin blend. The thickness of the cover layer, the surface hardness and other characteristics under the specified load imposed on the ball is optimized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
