The device has a heating arm (20) with a heater radiator i.e. unit heater (21), for heating a passenger compartment of a motor vehicle. A derivation arm (30) is connected to the heating arm. A selection unit (40) i.e. valve, is provided for selecting the derivation arm. An electronic control unit (50) places the selection unit in determined positions. The heating arm has heating units placed in upstream of the radiator, where the heating units have a heat exchanger (25) arranged in an exhaust line of an internal combustion engine (M) of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an internal combustion engine temperature raise and passenger compartment heat controlling device.
