A composition comprising: a light emitting material; and a polymer compound having a constitutional sequence represented by the following formula (1) as a main chain: -[—(Y)n—Z—]m-  (1) in the formula, Y represents a divalent group, in which two hydrogen atoms are removed from a structure represented by the following formula (Y-1) or (Y-2), Z represents a divalent group, in which two hydrogen atoms are removed from a structure represented by the following formula (Z-1), (Z-2), (Z-3), (Z-4), (Z-5), (Z-6), (Z-7), or (Z-8), m represents an integer of 4 to 10,000, and n represents an integer of 1 to 3, plural Y's, Z's, and n's each may be the same as or different from each other, a hydrogen atom included in Y and Z may be substituted by R′, and R′ each independently represents a functional group selected from a group consisting of a carboxyl group, a nitro group, a cyano group, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an aryl group, an aryloxy group, an arylthio group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an amino group, a silyl group, an acyl group, an acyloxy group, an imine residue, an amide compound residue, an acid imide residue, a monovalent heterocyclic group, and a monovalent heterocyclic thio group, or a halogen atom, when there are plural R′'s, they may be the same as or different from each other, and plural R′'s may be bonded to each other to form a ring structure, and the hydrogen atom included in the functional group may be further substituted by a substituent, in the formulas, X represents —CH═ or —N═, and plural X's may be the same as or different from each other, with the proviso that the number of —N═ as X is 0 to 2, Rx represents a functional group selected from a group consisting of a carboxyl group, a nitro group, a cyano group, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an aryl group, an aryloxy group, an arylthio group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an amino group, a silyl group, an acyl group, an acyloxy group, an imine residue, an amide compound residue, an acid imide residue, a monovalent heterocyclic group, and a monovalent heterocyclic thio group, or a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, plural Rx's may be the same as or different from each other, and plural Rx's may be bonded to each other to form a ring structure, and the hydrogen atom included in the functional group may be further substituted by a substituent, wherein the composition includes the light emitting material in an amount of 4 to 20 parts by mass relative to 1 part by mass of the polymer compound.
