A push-pull type core 20 is formed with from one to four rounded, raised portions at a helix angle of 82-88 degrees, and runs in a flexible tube 12 of an organic polymeric material, e.g. p.t.f.e. The raised portions may be formed by intertwining two, three or four metal wires or the rounded corners of a unitary triangular wire. The tube 12 is encased by long-lead metal wires 14 or a composite metal plastic structure as in Specification 998,365 and an optional short lead layer of fibres and an outer flexible casing. |
