<p>1341605 Surgical drapes JOHNSON & JOHNSON 4 May 1971 [24 June 1970] 12956/71 Heading A5R [Also in Division B5] A surgical drape having a moisture vapour transmission rate of at least 15 g water/sq.m./ 24 hours measured according to ASTM test E 96-66 (B) comprises a sterilisable, flexible, waterproof water insoluble, non-toxic, non- microporous film or sheet and a sterilisable, non-toxic, flexible absorbent covering layer superposed on at least one face of the sheet or film. The sheet or film may be of cellulose acetate, cellulose triacetate, cellulose acetate, butyrate, collagen, gelatin, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers, polyamide, cellulose propional regenerated cellulose or ethyl cellulose. The covering layer may be secured by uniform or random bonding, e.g. by stitching heat sealing or adhesive, and is suitably a woven or non-woven tissue or foam fabric. The drape may be provided with a hydrophobic coating in the form of lines or patterns which act as channels for dispersal of body fluids. The drape may have a centrally located aperture.</p> |
