Jacket padding fabric - selectively impregnated with elastic cpd providing regions of different flexibility

A jacket padding fabric from which a padding panel for the front of a jacket is cut, is selectively impregnated with an elastic cpd. (e.g. a natural or synthetic rubber latex or emulsion, pref. butadiene/acrylonitrile or a thermoplastic elastomeric emulsion of PVC and co-polymers) to produce regions of different flexibility such that the upper region of the panel is reasonably rigid; the central region moderately flexible and the lower region supple. The fabric may be impregnated with different quantities or different compsns. of the elastic cpd. in the central and upper regions and is pref. unimpregnated in the lower regions. One face of the fabric may be coated with thermoplastic adhesive to allow it to be secured directly to the jacket fabric. The padding panel is simply produced from a single piece of impregnated fabric.
