<p>1353207 Electro-photography XEROX CORP 23 July 1971 [27 July 1970] 34700/71 Heading G2H After transfer of a developed image consisting of liquid developer from a photo-conductive surface, residual liquid developer is removed from the surface with a cleaning liquid which is immiscible with the liquid developer. The liquid developer may be water miscible or immiscible and may be applied from a patterned roll. The cleaning liquid may contain a surface active agent or a Lewis acid or base. As shown, a photoconductive drum 10 is cleaned after charging, exposing, developing and transferring steps by means of a fibrous web 17 passing countercurrently over the surface of the drum from a reel 19 to a reel 18, the web being wetted by a sponge roll 24 partially immersed in cleaning liquid 25. Residual liquid is evaporated by a lamp 26. Various materials are specified.</p> |
