<p>The frame has a three point attachment and a power take off point. As the machine follows each row of tobacco, the plants are drawn by guide blades into an opening. Each leaf passes over a wheel which notches the stem. Leaves are separated from the plant by a cutting blade. When severed, a current of air provided through ducting by a fan removes each leaf down a plane to fall onto a moving belt at the rear of the machine. This belt runs at right angles to each row and carries the cut leaves to a container for removal.</p> |
