The procedure for determination of the traction of a motor vehicle tyre involves fitting the tyre on a wheel which is driven by the engine of a motor vehicle and the vehicle is driven on a road under the effect of the motive force transmitted by the intermediary of the drive wheel. A braking force is applied to the vehicle by means of an external braking system with a force measuring link; the braking force and the vehicle deceleration are measured in order to determine the traction. The link may be connected to an ordinary towing hitch and the tractive force developed is continuously monitored.
