PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converting apparatus which can increase power generation efficiency in generating electric power by a power source which floats in the ocean, makes irregular motions in vertical and horizontal directions by waves in a prescribed range, and generates intermittent linear power.SOLUTION: Power is transmitted to an input shaft 10 from a power source which floats in the ocean, makes irregular motions in vertical and horizontal directions by waves in a prescribed range, and generates intermittent linear power through a plurality of first tensile force transmitting members 40. Electric power is generated by a power generator (not shown in the figure) coupled to an output shaft 30, and a part of the power is transmitted to a spring 51 through a power transmitting member 11, 21 to be accumulated as elastic energy. When the linear power generated by a buoyant body 1 dissipates or decreases, a power converting apparatus is configured to increase power generation efficiency by transmitting rotative force to the output shaft 30 by the accumulated elastic energy through an energy transmitting shaft 20 and a second input member 23 and by rotating the output shaft by the accumulated energy.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
