The invention relates to new tricyclic derivatives of N,N'-substituted 3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonanes of formula (1)wherein X is a carbonyl group or methylene group; Ris a fragment (1.1a), (1.2a), (1.3a) or (1.4a), which have the meanings defined herein; R, R'are H, C-Calkyl or C-Calkoxy; R, R', R, R', R, R', R, R', R, R', R, R', Rand R'are H or C-Calkyl. The compounds are capable of allosteric modulation of AMPA receptors, in particular they have nootropic effect, and may be used to treat neurodegenerative pathologies.
