The snap action hinge for furniture doors has four bar linkage type hinge mechanism. This hinge passes through a dead centre position on rotating from open to closed position. The spring arrangement assists the closing movement after passing the dead centre. The opening movement is similarly assisted once the dead centre is passed. No unsightly elements project from the hinge housing cup. The ends of both hinge levers (18, 20) have extensions (26, 28). These extensions hold a hinge preloading spring (30) between them. The extensions are suitably shaped to ensure the specified spring force direction on door actuation.
