1444053 Valves A KLENK and H KLENK 10 May 1974 [10 May 1973 25 July 1973] 20867/74 Heading F2V [Also in Division E1] A valve trap includes a vertical inlet pipe 8 closable at its lower end by a valve 14 in the form of a pan 17 pivotal about a horizontal axis 12 and biased by a counterweight 16 to a closed position in which its rim co-operates with a seal 16a disposed around the pipe, the bottom of the pan rising from the pan's deepest point in a straight line to an overflow edge and the pan, pivot axis and counterweight lie substantially in a common plane. The lower end 9 of the pipe terminates above the level of water necessary in the pan to open the valve. The pipe 8 leads to a galley 11 having an outlet 30 with a float valve 31 forming an odour seal. The valve 31 may be closed by a screw arrangement 37 which presses a stirrup 35 on to the float. The bottom of the pan is a double wall defining a hollow chamber 22.
