<p>1516268 Padlocks T W MAN 7 May 1976 [8 May 1975] 18936/76 Heading E2A A padlock has a laminated body 12, in openings 28, 30 of which slide the ends of shackle 32. Notches 40, 42 in the shackle ends engage the ends of lock plates 44, 46 which are urged towards the locking position by springs such as 58. A cylinder lock 20 acts to rotate operating member 26 which bears a pair of cams 66 and 68 (not shown). These cams act on lugs 70, 72 depending from lock plates 44, 46 and so cause linear movement in them. An additional notch 64 is cut in the keel end 34 of the shackle 32 to engage plate 44 in the unlocked position and so retain the shackle in the body. As shown in Fig. 3, the body plates surrounding the lock plates 44, 46 may be made up as a sub-assembly 74, held together by bolts 76, 78.</p> |
