The mounting bracket for a pipe or cable has a U-shaped base cradle (1) to which a tangential installation lug (7, 8) is attached. A cover bracket (2) of semicircular form has a hinge connection (11) at the top end of the inner bracket base (10). When the bracket is closed, the radially curved end of the cover bracket (14) clips over the similarly shaped end of the outer cradle bracket (17). In order to secure the cover bracket in the closed position, an external hinged spring clip (18) can be pushed over the curved outside end of the bracket (2).
