1532446 Charging gas pressure vessels GREER HYDRAULICS Inc 5 Dec 1975 [5 Dec 1974] 50047/75 Heading F4P For charging, a gas pressure vessel 23, having a gas inlet port 32 with a loose-fitting sealing member 91, Fig. 6, is secured between two supports 16, 38 gas under pressure being introduced into the vessel past member 91 via passages 86, 83, 76, 52, the sealing member being tightly fitted in port 32 after filling is completed but while pressure is still maintained by actuating a plunger 61, 64. The gas under pressure acts on a sealing piston 42 to provide an effective seal against the vessel 23 around the port 32. The member 91 is cup-shaped and has circumferential teeth 95 which, when the plunger 61, 64 is actuated by introducing oil under pressure to passages 75, 72, 73, forcing the member 91 into a narrower bore portion 32b of port 32, grip the side walls of the bore under the action of ball 100 which is forced into member 91. The ball 100 or the member 91 has pressure relief passages 110 or 101. Gas passage 76 is connected by passage 84 to a relief valve 87 and a pressure gauge (not shown). |
