The two-leaved panic door can be used simultaneously as a smoke-retardant and fire-retardant closure. In order that the smoke-retardant and fire-retardant function is guaranteed, the door leaves (F1 and F2) must be provided with a fire-retardant filling and a steel-tube frame with a circumferential stop (5) on both sides. In order to be able to open the two door leaves (F1 and F2) simultaneously in the event of an emergency, the minimum dimension in the case of the distances (a and b) at the central joint according to the following formula is to be observed: <IMAGE> Under these conditions, it is guaranteed that both door leaves (F1 and F2) can be opened simultaneously without mutually jamming and yet close absolutely tightly.
