1416756 Test-tube holder G D SEARLE & CO 26 Sept 1973 [27 Sept 1972] 45082/73 Heading B1X [Also in Division G1] A tray defining a plurality of apertures of uniform diameter for accommodating a plurality of samples vertically in said apertures, comprises at least one generally annular device of resilient material for installation in any of said apertures to support therein a sample tube inserted therethrough said device including a section extending into and within said aperture upon such installation and enlarging upwardly from a reduced diameter, to facilitate retention and accommodation of said device to said uniform diameter aperture, during angular displacement of said device, said device protruding below said tray upon such installation to include circumferentially spaced gripping portions extending downwardly and inwardly to resiliently engage the inserted tube, whereby lateral displacement of a protruding end of an inserted tube may be effected as well as longitudinal displacement of the inserted tube relative to said tray upon application of a predetermined force, without affecting the support of such tube or any remaining tubes similarly installed in said tray. Such inserts allow the sample tubes themselves to support the weight of the tray, and allow some lateral movement of the bottoms of the tubes so that a measuring device positioned under the tray may be used in connection with a particular tube or tubes only. |
