PURPOSE:To manufacture aggregate of excellent quality equal to that of natural ballast, without forming yellow water, by, in manufacture of aggregate used for concrete from blast furnace slag, cooling the slag rapidly from a temp. not lower than 600 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:In cooling process, blast furnace slag is cooled rapidly from a temp. not lower than 600 deg.C at a cooling rate of 20 - 100 deg.C/min. Hereafter it is crushed by a crusher to a prescribed particle size and is used as aggregate for concrete. Sulfur contained in the blast furnace slag is prevented from seeping by the glassy material formed through above-described rapid cooling of the blast furnace slag, thus excellent aggregate for use in concrete is obtained. |
