<p>A water cooled tuyere serves to inject hot gas and additives into a furnace and is fabricated from a metal having a good thermal conductivity such as copper. The tuyere has >=1 annular chamber with an inlet and outlet for cooling water, inner surfaces leading to the tuyere nose and fins extending from the metal body and of uniform length. A layer of an insulating refractory material is located between the fins. This tuyere has a durability which is at least equal to that obtainable with conventional tuyeres whilst reducing the transfer of heat through the tuyere walls so as to enable the consumption of cooling water to be reduced.</p> |
