PURPOSE:To increase output of automotive gasoline engine and to reduce the generation of NOx exhausted by the engine, by injecting water directly into combustion chamber in synchronism with the timing when high-tension current is produced by the ignition plug. CONSTITUTION:Upwardly of ignition plug 9, there is provided a current receiving unit 1 for detecting current when secondary current produced by the ignition plug is passed through the cord. Secondary current thus detected by unit 1 is sent to amplifier 2, and after it is amplified by the amplifier 2, it is sent to relay 3 which is connected with a primary current circuit from battery 5. The relay 3 is actuated by the current supplied from receiving unit 1 for connecting and disconnecting the primary current circuit. The primary current circuit is connected to electromagnetic coil 17 of water injection pump 4 disposed at an upper portion of cylinder 6, so that primary current is passed in the coil and water is injected into combustion chamber at the instant when said high-tension current is detected by the unit 1. By thus injecting water directly into combustion chamber, output of engine can be increased and at the same time generation of NOx or other noxious gases can be minimized. |
