The box spanner is used on automatic wheel nuts or similar, comprising a length of circular hollow metal section of which the ends are fashioned into hexagonal section sockets or spigots. An intermediate diametric hole locates a slidably insertable tommy bar by which torque is applied being lined by a spacer sleeve of which the ends project beyond the spanner barrel. The sleeve ends are fixed to the barrel by rivetting, crimping or welding. The spanner body may be fabricated by means of cold metal working process, being then drilled to receive the independently fabricated spacer sleeve. One or more lined holes may be provided, the latter being on angularly offset dias.
|
