<p>The dummy has jointed limbs and covering to simulate the human body its rib cage and chest being designed to provide the appropriate resilience and flexibility for accident and impact simulation. It comprises a tubular spinal column (16), supporting the hinged shoulder blades, shock absorbers providing a controlled reaction. Curved strips are attached to a plate (17) acting as the sternum. The rib cage (23) floats at the rear (25) and shock absorbers (32) pass through the spinal column, being attached (28) to the rib sides. Their piston rods (30) are threaded (37) for adjustment and additional damping is provided by a resilient material (34).</p> |
