PURPOSE:To make the weight of cell lighter by fomring the straps of electrode plate group with the interposition a light weight pressure-welding part of a given form between the lugs of each electrode plate. CONSTITUTION:Between the lugs of each of the electrode plates 1, the light weight pressure-welding part 5 having the convex portion 3 of a curved conical and trapezoidal shape on its one end and also the concave portion 4 of a shape contrary to the convex portion 3 on the other end, and then the lugs 2 and the pressure-welding parts 5 are respectively and continuously welded by pressure in such a way as to put the lugs 2 of the electrode plates 1 between the adjacent pressure-welding parts in order to build up an electrode plate group. The said pressure-welding parts 5 are a tubular ones of a light weight material such as aluminum, having the through hole 8 in its center and the flange 10 with the fine undulations 9 on its ends. Also, the lug 2 of the plate 1 has the aperture 11 and fixed linearly with the through hole 8 of the pressure-welding part 5 by means of the mandrel 12. Thus, the strap portion thus formed is sealed with packed substance into the isolation chamber 13 in the cell and isolated below the electrolyte. |
