The housing is designed to be capable of being pivoted to allow optimum positioning. In addition the housing includes a switching stage that is triggered if the unit is tampered with. The housing is manufactured from two moulded half shells (14,15) that latch together. One end of the housing is hermi-shperical (18) and has a mounting screw (29) for securing the unit to the curved surface of a wall mounting bracket (20). The bracket has a slot that allows the position of the housing to adjusted. Cables (45) pass through the screw to connect with the detector within the housing. A microswitch (40) is arranged to be triggered if the housing halves are separated and an alarm is triggered.
