<p>The key cutter has a jaw to hold a key blank adjacent to a second jaw to hold a key to be copied. It has carriages which move along paths at right angles to each other. This enables the keys to be moved towards and away from the cutters and also past the cutters at right angles to this movement. The machine has a large cutting wheel for making cuts in one direction and a smaller cutting wheel at right angles to it, for cuts in the other direction. A control lever carries out the cutting movements of the keys, and another lever swings the keys from a horizontal post position to a vertical position. The two carriages are mounted on a base carriage travelling on slides to permit the combined movements. The keys are locked in their different positions.</p> |
