PURPOSE:To make it possible to detect the original size for originals of any type, by combining the mechanical contact system and the optical system to constitute a device and by making one detection signal effective according to the thickness of originals. CONSTITUTION:When the original put on original stand 1 is thick such as a book type, pattern E and counductive rubber 4 are separated from each other and become nonconductive. Consequently, signal (e) from pattern E becomes high level H, and AND gates G1-G4 are closed, and AND gates G5-G8 are opened, and the size detection signal from the detecting circuit 14 of the size of the optical original passes through these gates and is output. Next, when original 2 is a thin sheet, signal (e) from pattern E becomes low level L, and AND gates G5-G8 are closed, and AND gates G1-G4 are opened, and the size detection signal from the detecting circuit 6 for the original size of the mechanical contact system passes through these gates and is output. Thus, the size can be detected for originals of any type. |
