发明名称 Tool to open oyster shells etc. - has approaching jaws of which one uses chisel edge to penetrate shell joint
摘要
Hand tool is for opening the shells of molluscs, esp. oysters. The tool comprises two opposed jaws between which the mollusc is placed. The jaws can be displaced towards each other by manually operated lever gearing offering a mechanical advantage. One jaw has a chisel-edged nose which penetrates between the edges of the mollusc shells and then urges them apart as the jaws approach each other. The chisel edged nose pref. comprises two flat faces forming a dihedral with an included angle between 10 and 40 deg. The nose is pref. made up of two triangular blades, one face of each blade forming a face of the chisel edged nose. The jaws are pref. mounted on opposed extremities of a pair of levers crossing on a common pivot, scissors fashion. The jaw opposed to the chisel- edged nose pref. offers a serrated, concaved surface to grip the mollusc in opposition to the nose. Used in opening oysters and other molluscs. The steel is opened easily and without fatigue. There is no danger of a cut hand as when opening with a knife. Opening is clean and the shell is not splintered so there is no danger of the consumer eating fragments of shell.
