The concrete frame is used to define the edges of a window opening or similar in masonry walls, using precast planks to form the exposed surfaces. Separate planks form the two sides, the head and the sill of a rectangular opening, which has a 'T' section with a latticework of reinforcement bars in the web. The frame is made by placing the planks on a bed, by placing shutters to the outer faces, and by pouring in situ concrete. Hook type hinge fittings for shutters etc. may be embedded in the concrete, and the composite section may be rebated to suit cavity wall details and drip outlets etc.
|
