The invention relates to a sowing-machine charging and dressing device for seed, in the hopper of which, which is expediently designed as an inverted truncated cone or pyramid, a feed screw extending beyond the lid of the hopper and provided with a casing is installed vertically or approximately vertically. The object to be achieved is that of providing a device of simple construction into which the existing sowing technology can be easily integrated and with the aid of which the prescribed coverage of the grains with dressing agent can be achieved. This object is achieved according to the invention by virtue of the fact that the casing of the feed screw has a discontinuity in the vicinity of the bottom and of the lid of the hopper and that an axially displaceable sleeve is mounted on the feed screw casing next to the discontinuity at the lid and, if required, next to that at the bottom.
