Fitting for clear tap knob for improved appearance - uses plastics cover for gland nut assembly and star shaped cap screwed on splined end to accept knob

The clear acrylic plastic knob for a bathroom tap is attached to the tap spindle by a coupler which improves the visual aesthetics by covering the metal parts of the tap so they are not visible through the clear knob. The top of the tap spindle is splined externally and has a tapped internal hole accessible from above. A plastics cover reaching from the top of the finished metal part of the tap to the bottom of the spindle splines, is placed over the gland nut assembly. A toroidal sealing ring is placed between this cover and the plastics coupler which fits on the spindle splines and is fixed to the spindle by a screw fitting in a recess in the top of the coupler. The coupler has a star shaped plan. A mating recess in the knob is fitted over the coupler to provide drive between the knob and the spindle.
