The rotary i.c. engine or fluid pump has four articulated rectangular plates which form a deformable rhomboid turning in a chamber. The chamber is in the shape of a prism with a curved base parallel to the curve formed by the crossing of the paths of the ends of a segment of radius 2r whose centre describes a circular of radius r. The rectangular plates follow the centres of cranks on a shaft in the centre of the chamber.
