PURPOSE:To obtain high reliability, maintenability, and quick response by obtaining multistage reference density with a simple structure, by controlling respective liquid-crystal segments individually while using the segments for the target of the image density controller of an original moving type copying machine. CONSTITUTION:The target 20 of an image density controller is constituted in a platen 1 by a liquid-crystal element part 2 and a target part 5. For example, the liquid-crystal element part 2 is formed by providing transparent electrodes 9a, 9b and 9c, and 10a, 10b and 10c to transparent glass plates 3 and 13, and by providing liquid-crystal segments 4a, 4b and 4c between the 9a and 10a, 9b and 10b, and 9c and 10c. The segment 4a is made transparent by being applied with a voltage to project only one-third area of the target part 5 on a photoreceptor for a low- density reference image, and two segments 4a and 4b are made transparent to obtain an intermediate-density reference image; and three segments 4a-4c are made transparent to obtain a high-density image. |
