The invention relates to a separating element for use in a motor vehicle body for separating driver's compartment and engine compartment. The separating element has a first wall group which defines a recess directed towards the engine compartment, the spare wheel and a ventilation and heating device being at least partially held by said recess, and a second wall group which is connected to the first and defines channels from the ventilation and heating device to the driver's compartment.
