What is described is an apparatus for the continuous application of a treatment solution to a cloth web, in which the nip, which, by the use of the ...... above the gap, is clamped between two rollers pressed horizontally against one another and intended to rotate, serves as a treatment-agent trough for a cloth web to be guided through the nip. The transport speed of the cloth web is to be controlled in such a way that the quantity of padded treatment agent remains constant irrespective of the liquid level in the trough. According to the invention, the height of the level of treatment solution in the nip is measured, and the measurement result is used for controlling the rotational speed of the rollers.
