A filter element 5 fitted in a house 1 is made to rotate at the same time as a fluid is made to flow through the filter element. Between the filter element 5 and/or its support 4 on one side, and the house (wall section 22) on the other side, a column 30 is formed. In order to eliminate leakage of pollutant-laden fluid from the upstream side of the filter element through the column 30, thus by-passing the filter element, the pressure in the fluid on the side of the column 30 downstream of the filter element is kept higher, by means of a fan 13, than the fluid pressure on the side of the column 30 upstream of the filter element 5. <IMAGE> |
