The pump is mounted on a base plate (9) with the motor above and the pump suspended below on an extended motor shaft. The extended shaft is held in guide bearings (18) which are enclosed in a tubular assembly and protected by a seal. The pump is suspended from an outer tube (13) whilst the outer races of the bearings (17,18) locate in the housings (23,24) which are connected by a tube (20). The inner races are located in the hubs (21,22) which are connected by an inner tube (19). The shaft below the lower bearing housing carries a seal (36-38). The lower bearing housing also has an oil bath (42) for lubrication and cooling.
