Title isoquinolines I(R1=substituted amino; R2=aryl; n=1, 2, 3; R3=H, halo, OH, alkyl, etc.) were prepd. as antideppressants(no data). Thus, 6.65 g 3-piperazino-1-phenyl-isoquinoline, 4.73 g butylbromide, 4.88 g CaCO3 and 0.2 g KI refluxed for 4 day in 150 ml C6H5CH3 followed by cooling, washing, drying, concentrating and treating with ethanolic HCl to give 5.7 g 3-N-butylpiperazino-1-phenyl-isoquinoline. HCl(m.p., 216-218≦̸C).
