An apparatus for loading and unloading prefabricated garages (3) on vehicles has a lifting frame (2) and four vertical lifting cylinders (21, 22) and devices (20) for fastening the prefabricated garage, which is lifted by means of the lifting cylinders (21, 22) until the vehicle can move with its frame (1) under the base (6) of the prefabricated garage, and is then lowered for transport onto the vehicle frame. The lifting frame (2) itself can be moved by means of a running roller (31), which engages in a longitudinal guide (32) on the vehicle frame (1), and by means of a running wheel (18) which runs on the ground, so that it can be moved before loading down from the vehicle into the prefabricated garage and after the unloading of the same can be pulled up again onto the vehicle. In order to have enough manoeuvring space for the vehicle in restricted space conditions after the unloading, the vehicle can be driven up transversely to the prefabricated garage (3) and the lifting frame (2), via a transverse guide (33) for the running roller (31), can be pulled up over the longitudinal side of the vehicle until the lifting frame (2) is moved out of the garage (3). It is then lifted by a swivelling bolster (10) supported on the vehicle frame (1) and is turned about its vertical axis until the running roller (31) engages in the longitudinal guide (33) and the lifting frame (2) can be pulled up completely. <IMAGE>
