435,765. Davits. TOMKINS, W. C., 35, Southway, Wallington, and PICKUP, C. A. E., 10, Warren Road, Banstead, both in Surrey. March 27, 1934, No. 9529. [Class 115] Luffing davits 1 are pivoted at 3 to the ship's side and the boats suspended from the usual falls are stowed with the dead weight inside the pivots 3. In lowering the davits are given an initial push by the thrust-bars 5 disposed beneath the deck and having downwardlydisposed noses 14 which engage an inwardlyextending bar 12 carried centrally to the horizontal bracing bar 11 of the davit frame. The bars 5 are operated by rack-gear through the winch 19. Subsequent lowering operations are controlled by the tackle 6. When waterborne, the terminal fall rings are released from bolts by operating a centrally-disposed wheel 26 which simultaneously operates the bolts through screw-gear. |
