A fabric and process for its manufacture, in which among the yarns 2 assembled by weaving a backing, there are placed yarns 3 which are much less sensitive to shrinkage, produced by a stabilising treatment, than the yarns 2 of the cloth backing. There is thus produced an embossed or crinkled textile product made of any kind of fabric and at a cost lower than that of the products of the same appearance existing on the market.
