MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To ensure the satisfactory reproduction despite the eccentricity of a recording track of a disk by controlling a magnetic head based on the offset amount and direction of the magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A disk 1 is divided into plural for example 1/4, in its circumferential direction. The levels of reproduction signals of each recording area are detected by an envelope wave detector 9 and level detecting circuits 11A-11D respectively. Then the offset amount and direction of a magnetic head 3 are decided by an offset control circuit 18 for each recording area in response to the detected signal level of each area. An offset signal corresponding to the decided offset amount and direction is applied to a head actuator 4 for control of the head 3. Thus it is possible to ensure the satisfactory reproduction with no shift of track despite the eccentricity of the recording track of the disk 1.
