During pivoting of its running axis, a gyroscope attempts to escape in a movement offset at right angles to the direction of the pivoting force. A torque is consequently imparted to the frame in which the gyroscope is mounted, which torque attempts to rotate the frame about its rotational axis. This torque of the frame is utilised according to the invention in order to counteract a tilting moment via a suitable frictional connection, which tilting moment is directed into the supporting element. Gears, for example, are suitable as frictional connection. It is also possible to convert the torque of the frame into pressure by means of a hydraulic device with working cylinders and to utilise it.
