This device for stopping 1 a container 2 comprises, on the one hand, a cap 5 made of plastic material which fits in a detachable manner on the opening of the container 2 and which is obtained in particular by injection moulding and, on the other hand, a cladding element 6, in particular a cladding cover, on which is applied a metal coating 16 (for example a gilding) deposited by a metallisation method. The element 6 is made from a material capable of ensuring a good adhesion of the coating 16, preferably a metal such as anodised aluminium or metal alloy. The combination of this cap 5 and its cladding cover 6 results in a light, aesthetic stopping device having good sealing qualities due to the presence of an internal skirt 8 of the injection moulded cap 5. <IMAGE>
