In a method for producing a measuring tape of high precision, the blank tape is printed in a contactless fashion using a spray mechanism, the manufacturing errors are subsequently continuously checked immediately following the printing operation, and the checking result is, on the one hand, also printed onto the blank tape and, on the other hand, used to control the printing operation for the purpose of minimising errors.
